China's first new-energy two-seat electric light sport aircraft RX1E completed its maiden flight successfully in June 2013.
On February 6, 2015, the RX1E electric aircraft obtained the Type Design Approval (TDA) issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
It was granted the Production Certificate (PC) on November 25, 2015.
The RX1E new-energy two-seat electric light sport aircraft became the world's first certified electric aircraft.
Developed by the Liaoning General Aviation Research Institute under the leadership of Academician Yang Fengtian, Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and then President of Shenyang Aerospace University, the Ruixiang RX1E boasts completely independent intellectual property rights.
The development of the RX1E electric aircraft commenced in 2012. Spanning more than three years, it accomplished all procedures including design, manufacturing, production, testing, flight test and airworthiness verification.
The aircraft attended the AERO Friedrichshafen Airshow in Germany in April 2015 and the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh in the United States in July 2015, attracting extensive global attention. The RX1E new-energy two-seat electric light sport aircraft and its key technologies were awarded the First Prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award by the Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics in 2017.
